  12. 1.    "Code corrupted (CRC error) ─ Execution aborted"
  13.       The program failed its internal cyclical redundancy check, indicating
  14.       that the code is corrupted.
  15.  
  16.  
  17. 2.    "This CPU cannot execute 286+ code ─ Execution aborted"
  18.       286+ versions of the program cannot be executed in 8088, 8086, or most
  19.       80186 based machines.
  20.  
  21.  
  22. 3.    "This CPU cannot execute 386+ code ─ Execution aborted"
  23.       386+ versions of the program cannot be executed in 8088, 8086, 80186,
  24.       or 80286 based machines.
  25.  
  26.  
  27. 4.    "Needs DOS version 2.0 or higher ─ Execution aborted"
  28.       The program requires a DOS version equal to or greater than MS-DOS 2
  29.       (or compatible operating system) for proper execution.

  33.       The program was unable to determine the type of video adapter in use.
  34.       Adapters recognized are MDA, CGA, EGA, (S)VGA, and the HERCULES video

  51.       The relevant resident parameters of BLANKs were successfuly updated.

  54. 10.   "Unable to change DOS environment [Error ?]"
  55.       The program was unable to create/update the requested DOS environment
  56.       string.  Three error codes are possible:
  57.  
  58.                1: Not enough room in the global environment block.
  59.                2: Null terminator for environment block not found.
  60.                3: Null size environment block.
  61.  
  62.       Error 1 may be due to a small DOS environment (see file DOS_ENV.TXT).
  63.       Errors 2 and 3 indicate corruption of the environment block.

  66. 11.   "DOS loaded high (HMA) - Switch /E ignored"
  67.       The program was unable to create/update the requested DOS environment
  68.       string when DOS 5.0+ was installed in the High Memory Area. The error
  69.       may be due to a small environment block, or an undocumented change in
  70.       the operating system.  Try to increase the environment size.  If this
  71.       fails, please contact the program vendor.

  75.       "Continue? [Yn]"
  76.       When switch /W?, /K?, or /? is selected, BLANKs attempts to allocate an
  77.       additional 4300 bytes for video processing. The message is displayed if
  78.       enough memory is not available (other functions can still be executed).
  79.       Pressing <Y> or <Enter> proceeds with the display, <N> or <Esc> cancels
  80.       the execution.

  83. 13.   "User BREAK ─ Execution aborted"
  84.       <Break> was pressed during an interactive screen display.

  88.       An invalid switch designator (X) or parameter (x) was passed to BLANKs.

  92.       Switch /Dn was selected for a nonVGA adapter system.

  96.       An invalid character was entered during the password selection.  A
  97.       sequence of 1 to 15 non-shifted, alphanumeric-only characters (a-z,
  98.       0-9) is needed.

  102.       An invalid character was entered as the first parameter of the new
  103.       hotkey.  Use any character between <A> to <Z> or <0> to <9>.

  107.       An invalid character was entered as the second parameter of the new
  108.       hotkey.  Use a number between 4 and 15 to specify the corresponding

  113.       BLANKs resident was successfuly deallocated from memory.

  116. 20.   "Not yet installed"
  117.       Uninstalling was requested when the program is not yet installed.

  120. 21.   "Cannot uninstall - Interrupt XXh has been revectored"
  121.       The indicated interrupt vector has been changed since its interception
  122.       during the installation; if more than one interrupt vector has changed,
  123.       only the first one is shown.

  126. 22.   "Failed to release resident block [DOS error ??h]"
  127.       DOS did not deallocate the lower-memory memory block allocated to the
  128.       resident at the time of its installation.  One of two error codes may
  129.       be expected:
  130.  
  131.           7 - Memory blocks above the DOS area trashed.
  132.           9 - Invalid block request.
  133.  
  134.       These errors indicate a corruption of the memory control chain of the
  135.       operating system.  Reboot processor as soon as possible.

  138. 23.   "Failed to detect presence of an XMS manager (XMM)"
  139.       BLANKs failed to determine presence of a driver compatible with the
  140.       Extended Memory Specification (XMS) version 2.0+, and the requested
  141.       high-memory load (/H) defaulted to a normal low-memory installation.

  144. 24.   "Failed to allocate upper-memory block [XMS error ??h]"
  145.       The XMM did not allocate the requested UMB.  One of the following
  146.       XMS error codes may be expected:

  148.           80h - Function is not implemented.
  149.           8Eh - General driver error occurred.
  150.           8Fh - Unrecoverable driver error occurred.
  151.           B0h - Smaller UMB is available.
  152.           B1h - No UMBs are available.
  153.           B2h - UMB segment number is invalid.

  156. 25.   "Failed to allocate upper-memory block [DOS error ??h]"
  157.       DOS 5.0 did not allocate the requested UMB.  One of the following
  158.       error codes may be expected:

  160.           7 - Memory blocks above the DOS area trashed.
  161.           8 - Not enough memory.
  162.  
  163.       Error 7 indicates a corruption of the memory control chain of the
  164.       operating system (reboot processor as soon as possible).  Error 8
  165.       indicates that no UMBs are available.  Install the program in low
  166.       memory.

  169. 26.   "Memory allocation mode not restored [DOS error ??h]"
  170.       DOS 5.0 failed to restore its default memory allocation strategy
  171.       after the program modified it for UMB allocation. The error code
  172.       may be 01h (invalid function). Reboot the processor immediately.

  175. 27.   "Failed to release upper-memory block [XMS error ??h]"
  176.       The XMM did not free the allocated UMB. (See above for XMS error

  181.       DOS 5.0 did not free the allocated UMB. (See above for DOS error
